Calgary Dragon Boat Festival 2005

Well, I've just gotten through the dragon boat festival! Unfortunately our team didn't do as well this year as we did last year, but we did all still have a really fun time! The weather was cooperating this year, which is really fortunate. Last year it was SOO COLD! It was rainy and so cold it was almost snow (at least it felt like that). This year is was really hot on Saturday and just perfect on Sunday.

As for the results? Well, the womens team won gold for the 3rd year in a row, which was great! The men's team didn't win this year, unfortunately. Three of the other teams took their best men and put them into 1 boat, which was strong enough to edge our men out (they beat us by less than a second). Too bad, but I still got a silver medal. Our competitive level mixed team didn't win this year either. There was some really strong competition this year, and they came in 4th in the final. My mixed team did really well, however! We managed to get into the finals of the B division, which is great! Last year we were in the consolation of the C division, so that's a huge difference! I'm thinking of joining the semi competitive team next year. Just depends on Evelyn, actually! We'll have to see if I can convince her to join next year with me! I'm sure she'd love it =).

So, until next year, Paddles up! Take it away.

If we're still in Calgary next summer, I'm in for dragon boating. I have to start exercising more when I get home! I want to keep up the endurance I've built up this summer riding the bike. I've totally been a bum the past few days and I've noticed that I've completely lost my appetite. I guess that's a good thing. Compensating for the lack of exercise. Maybe I'll gain back all the weight I've lost in the 2 weeks before you see me! I hope not!
